The 2024 Cascina Delle Monache Ronco del Mandorlo Old Vines Gavi di Gavi DOCG is a superb single-vineyard Cortese from the Arecco family's oldest vineyard, planted in 1978 in the heart of Gavi. Named after the ancient almond tree overlooking the site, this east-facing vineyard sits on limestone-rich Cessola marl and sandy soils, producing fruit of remarkable concentration and finesse. Fermented in 70% stainless steel and 30% seasoned oak, the wine offers aromas of white peach, lemon rind and ripe pear layered with thyme, white flowers and chalky minerality.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, a silky texture and impressive depth from the old vines. Flavours of citrus, stone fruit and subtle herbal notes are balanced by saline freshness and a long, refined finish with exceptional precision. Richer and more complex than a classic Gavi, it is an elegant, age-worthy expression of one of Piedmont's finest white wine appellations.
