The 2023 Louis Jadot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a profound Grand Cru Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, produced from one of the historic domaine-owned vineyards of Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot. Jadot's parcel lies in Les Pougets on the Aloxe-Corton side of the hill, immediately beside Le Charlemagne, in the heart of the Corton-Charlemagne appellation. This has been one of the family's important holdings since the 19th century, with the vineyard's limestone-rich soils and elevated exposure producing Chardonnay of exceptional concentration, mineral structure and longevity. Unlike the more immediately seductive Grand Cru whites of Montrachet, great Corton-Charlemagne is often defined by its power, stony austerity and ability to develop slowly over decades.
The 2023 is a particularly concentrated expression, showing citrus oil, preserved lemon, crisp apple and pear alongside white flowers, vanilla, subtle toast and crushed stone. The palate is full-bodied and densely layered, yet an intense mineral backbone and citrus-driven acidity provide remarkable energy and precision. James Suckling awarded 97 Points, highlighting the wine's combination of power, citrus vitality and increasingly intense stony minerality, while William Kelley at The Wine Advocate awarded 93–96 Points, describing it as one of the most underrated Grand Cru whites in the Jadot portfolio. Jasper Morris MW awarded 94–96 Points, praising its balance, minerality, poise and exceptional length.
