The 2023 Domaine François Lumpp Givry 1er Cru Crausot is an elegant Premier Cru Pinot Noir from the southern edge of Givry, where highly calcareous limestone soils produce wines of remarkable finesse and mineral precision. The domaine farms just under one hectare across south- and east-facing parcels, with the fruit fully destemmed, fermented in tank and matured for 12 months in French oak (around 70% new) before several months' rest in tank. The nose is beautifully perfumed, revealing bright red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry layered with delicate spice, floral notes and fine mineral complexity.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a beautifully focused structure. Pure red berry fruit is supported by chalky minerality and subtle oak, leading to a long, refined finish with exceptional freshness and precision. Often considered the most elegant and mineral-driven of François Lumpp's Premier Crus, it is approachable in its youth yet has the structure to reward careful cellaring.
