The 2022 Nashdale Lane Colour Series Tempranillo is a vibrant cool-climate Tempranillo from the high-altitude vineyards of Orange, New South Wales. Grown on basalt soils at around 900 metres above sea level, this lighter-bodied style highlights the variety's savoury character with aromas of ripe plum, sour cherry and blackberry, complemented by notes of cedar, tobacco and clove.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with smooth texture, fine grippy tannins and a dry, savoury finish. Flavours of blood plum, black cherry and blackberry are balanced by subtle spice and earthy complexity, while around 10 months in French oak adds gentle structure without overwhelming the fruit. Fresh and food-friendly, it is approachable now and will continue to drink well over the next 4–6 years.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for customers who enjoy elegant, savoury Tempranillo with bright fruit and refined structure. Pair it with grilled lamb, paella, cured meats, roast chicken, chargrilled vegetables or mature hard cheeses. Best served slightly below room temperature after a short decant, with rewarding drinking now or over the next 4–6 years.
