The 2022 Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Grande Montagne is a refined Premier Cru Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, produced from the elevated La Grande Montagne vineyard on the southern side of the commune. The site lies close to some of Chassagne's most celebrated Premier Crus, including Cailleret, Les Grandes Ruchottes and La Romanée, with east to southeast-facing slopes and classic clay-limestone soils. Its relatively high position helps give the wine freshness and mineral tension, balancing the naturally broader, richer character associated with Chassagne-Montrachet Chardonnay.
The 2022 was fermented and matured on its lees for approximately 15 months in French oak barrels, around 30% new, producing a wine with both richness and definition. Aromatically it shows white flowers, ripe pear, apple and peach alongside lemon-lime citrus, hazelnut, subtle vanilla and wet limestone. The palate is generous and textured, reflecting the ripe and successful 2022 Burgundy vintage, but there is excellent underlying freshness and a distinctly mineral finish that keeps the wine precise.
