The 2022 vintage combines the richness of Barossa Valley fruit with the lifted aromatics and freshness of Eden Valley. Matured for 18 months in French oak (approximately 42% new), the wine displays aromas of blackberry, black plum and blueberry layered with anise, liquorice, clove, graphite and dark chocolate.
On the palate, it is full-bodied yet remarkably composed, offering concentrated black fruit, spice and savoury complexity framed by silky, fine-grained tannins. The finish is long, balanced and mineral-driven, showing impressive power without sacrificing elegance. Compared to classic Barossa icons such as Torbreck RunRig or Henschke Mount Edelstone, Eligo leans towards greater elegance and finesse while still delivering outstanding concentration. The inclusion of Eden Valley fruit gives the wine freshness and aromatic lift, making it more restrained than many blockbuster Barossa Shiraz wines. The 2022 vintage continues this hallmark style with exceptional balance and precision. Drink from 2027 onwards or cellar comfortably for 20+ years.
