The 2022 Domaine Jacques Carillon Puligny-Montrachet is a beautifully structured 100% Chardonnay from Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, offering floral elegance, generous fruit and a distinctive mineral character. The Carillon family’s winemaking roots in the village date back to 1520, giving this small domaine a remarkable connection to its vineyards. The village cuvée draws on seven lieux-dits covering approximately 2.71 hectares, with vines averaging around 40 years old. For the 2022, the wine was fermented and matured in barrels with approximately 15% new oak, followed by six months in stainless steel, bringing texture and depth while keeping the fruit clearly defined.
The 2022 combines apple, pear, lemon and acacia blossom with a generous palate, refreshing energy and a clean, dry finish. Its appeal lies in the balance between fruit concentration and the youthful restraint that gives it room to develop. Jasper Morris MW awarded an early assessment of 90–93 Points, highlighting its brisk character, generosity and excellent length, with a suggested drinking window of 2027–2032. Allen Meadows awarded 89–92 Points, praising its airy aromatics, beautifully textured palate and balanced finish. This is a village Puligny with substance and structure, offering both immediate interest for curious drinkers and the potential to reward further time in bottle.
