The 2022 Domaine de la Vougeraie Musigny Grand Cru is one of the most prestigious Pinot Noir wines in Burgundy, sourced from the legendary Musigny Grand Cru vineyard in Chambolle-Musigny. Domaine de la Vougeraie owns a tiny holding within this historic site and farms it biodynamically, producing an extremely limited and highly collectible wine. Musigny is widely regarded as one of Burgundy’s greatest terroirs, celebrated for combining power, perfume and extraordinary finesse.

The 2022 vintage delivered ripe, concentrated fruit while retaining freshness and structure, producing wines of both charm and longevity. Critics and merchants have highlighted the wine’s harmony, precision and ageing potential, with scores around 98 points from leading French critics reinforcing its elite status. Domaine de la Vougeraie’s modern approach — including biodynamic viticulture, low yields and meticulous cellar work — further emphasises purity and terroir transparency.

The nose is intensely perfumed and layered, showing wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry alongside violet, rose petal, Asian spice and profound earthy complexity. On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet remarkably concentrated, with ultra-fine tannins, vibrant acidity and exceptional mineral precision. The hallmark of Musigny is its ability to combine silkiness and elegance with hidden power and immense length, and the 2022 vintage captures this beautifully. The finish is seamless, floral and hauntingly persistent.

Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is true “holy grail Burgundy” — a collector-level Grand Cru that sits among the finest Pinot Noir wines in the world alongside DRC, Roumier and Comte Georges de Vogüé. Compared to Bonnes-Mares, Musigny is more refined and floral; compared to Chambertin, it’s silkier and more perfumed. Domaine de la Vougeraie’s biodynamic style gives the wine exceptional purity and transparency. The 2022 vintage is especially compelling because it combines generosity and accessibility with the structure to age for decades. This is not simply luxury wine — it is one of Burgundy’s greatest terroir expressions. Best from 2030 onwards or with extended decanting now, and capable of ageing for 25–40+ years. Perfect with truffle dishes, duck, game birds or the finest French cuisine.
