The 2022 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin is 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, combining fragrant fruit with the savoury structure that makes this village so distinctive. Based in Marsannay-la-Côte, Domaine Bruno Clair produces an extensive range of wines across the Côte d’Or, including celebrated holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin. This village cuvée draws together several parcels, including a contribution from Premier Cru Bel Air, adding interest to its vineyard origins. The domaine’s approach includes partial whole-cluster fermentation in wooden vats and maturation in French oak, supporting a wine built around fruit definition, texture and the capacity to develop in bottle.
The 2022 offers cherry, strawberry and redcurrant, accompanied by violet, gentle spice and forest-floor notes. Its inviting fruit is supported by fresh acidity and firm, slightly chewy tannins, giving the palate both generosity and definition. Jasper Morris MW awarded an early assessment of 90–92 Points, highlighting the progression from delicate red fruit to a deeper burst of cherry and a refined finish. William Kelley’s early assessment of 89–91 Points for The Wine Advocate praised its purity, charm and depth. Burghound similarly noted its underlying tension and earthy character, describing a succulent, energetic expression with a recognisably Gevrey structure.
