The 2022 Dalrymple Vineyards Pipers River Pinot Noir is a refined single-site Pinot Noir from Dalrymple’s home vineyard in northern Tasmania. Located close to Bass Strait, the vineyard benefits from a cool maritime climate, long slow ripening and deep basalt-derived soils, while protection from Dalrymple Hill helps the fruit achieve flavour maturity without sacrificing natural acidity. The wine shows lifted aromas of red cherry, red plum and cranberry, layered with rose petal, Asian five-spice, subtle earthy notes and savoury complexity.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied, elegant and beautifully composed, with bright cherry and tangy red berry fruit supported by vibrant natural acidity and fine, mineral-textured tannins. Savoury spice and earthy notes add complexity, while a subtle saline quality reflects the vineyard’s maritime influence. The finish is long, fresh and finely structured, combining the perfume and silky texture of Pipers River with impressive depth and ageing potential.
