The 2022 BenMarco Sin Límites Valle de Pedernal is a high-altitude Malbec from San Juan’s remote Pedernal Valley, where vineyards reach around 1,500 metres above sea level. The nose shows ripe plum and blackberry with violet, lavender, black pepper and dried herbs. Rocky, limestone-rich soils formed from glacial deposits contribute to its distinctive mineral character.
On the palate, it is full-bodied yet finely structured, with juicy dark fruit, fresh acidity and polished, fine-grained tannins. Herbal and spicy notes sit alongside graphite and chalky minerality, leading to a long, savoury finish. The wine spends 25 days on skins before 12 months in used French oak, allowing the high-altitude fruit to remain clearly defined.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Malbec drinkers who enjoy structured Argentine reds with dark fruit, herbal complexity and a mineral edge. Enjoy now with some air or cellar through approximately 2036. Pair with grilled steak, roast lamb, slow-cooked beef, charcuterie or soft cheeses.
