The 2022 Amélie Guillot Poulsard Vieilles Vignes is an old-vine red from Arbois in France’s Jura region, made entirely from Poulsard. Sourced from organically farmed vines planted in 1954 on clay-limestone soils near Molamboz, it shows wild strawberry, raspberry and cranberry alongside rose petals, hibiscus, gentle spice and earthy mineral notes.
On the palate, it is light-bodied and dry with lively acidity, fresh red fruit and fine, supple tannins. The grapes are hand harvested and naturally fermented with indigenous yeasts before spending around 12 months in large oak foudres. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its delicate fruit and savoury Jura character.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Poulsard drinkers and Pinot Noir lovers looking for a lighter Jura red with fragrant fruit, fresh acidity and earthy complexity. Best served at cellar temperature or lightly chilled. Ideal with roast chicken, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, pork, Comté or other semi-hard cheeses.
