The 2021 Scorpo Eocene Original Vineyard Pinot Noir is a premium Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir sourced from Paul Scorpo's original vineyard plantings in Merricks North. Produced entirely from the MV6 clone, this wine reflects the character of the estate's ancient Eocene-derived soils and meticulous vineyard management. Aromas of raspberry, red cherry and cranberry are layered with rose petal, subtle spice, graphite and savoury earthy notes, creating a Pinot Noir of depth and complexity.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins, bright natural acidity and impressive concentration. Flavours of red berries, cherry and plum are supported by subtle spice, forest floor and finely integrated oak, while a portion of whole-bunch fermentation adds additional structure and detail. The wine balances richness with elegance, finishing long and refined with savoury complexity and persistent fruit.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding Pinot Noir for collectors and lovers of serious Mornington Peninsula wines. While beautifully expressive now with decanting, its structure and balance suggest excellent cellaring potential over the next 10–15 years. Pair with roast duck, game bird dishes, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon or truffle-infused dishes to complement its savoury complexity and fine texture.
