The 2021 KT Pazzo is an exciting Rhône-inspired blend of Shiraz, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing Kerri Thompson’s innovative approach to Clare Valley winemaking. The name Pazzo, meaning "crazy" or "mad" in Italian, reflects the unconventional combination of varieties that come together to create a wine full of personality and charm. The excellent 2021 vintage delivered superb fruit concentration and balance, resulting in a wine that is both approachable and complex.
The nose reveals blackberry, dark cherry and plum alongside notes of violets, dried herbs and sweet spice. The palate is juicy and medium to full-bodied, combining vibrant dark fruit with supple tannins and fresh acidity. Layers of liquorice, black pepper and savoury earth add complexity, while the finish is smooth, energetic and beautifully balanced. The Shiraz provides richness, Tempranillo contributes savoury spice, and Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and depth.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A characterful and versatile red blend that delivers plenty of flavour and individuality. Rich, spicy and highly food-friendly, it pairs beautifully with grilled meats, barbecue dishes, lamb, gourmet burgers and aged cheeses. Enjoy now and over the next 8–10 years while its vibrant fruit, savoury complexity and balance are at their peak.
