The 2021 Cor Ribbe Pinot Noir is a small-batch Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir crafted by winemaker Cornelis Ribbe, drawing fruit from two Balnarring vineyard sites planted to the MV6 and Abel clones. Made with a minimal-intervention approach, the wine displays expressive aromas of cranberry, cherry and satsuma plum, alongside subtle spice, dried herbs and earthy complexity. Its combination of bright fruit and savoury detail reflects both the coastal influence of the region and the hands-on nature of the winemaking.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fine tannins, vibrant acidity and an appealing balance between juicy fruit and savoury character. Red cherry, cranberry and plum flavours are supported by gentle spice and amaro-like herbal notes, while a small portion of whole-bunch fermentation adds texture and structure. Matured for nine months in oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered, the wine finishes fresh, energetic and finely detailed.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is a fantastic Pinot Noir for those who enjoy artisan, minimal-intervention wines with plenty of character and regional expression. Drinking beautifully now, it will continue to evolve over the next 5–7 years. Pair with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, charcuterie or herb-roasted chicken.
