The 2021 Confuron-Cotetidot Gevrey-Chambertin is a beautifully classical village Burgundy from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most respected traditional producers. Based in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot is renowned for its organic vineyard practices, low yields, partial whole-cluster fermentation and long élevage, producing wines with exceptional depth, structure and ageing potential.
The cooler 2021 vintage highlights freshness and purity, with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry and violet layered with earthy spice, forest floor and subtle mineral notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and vibrant, combining silky red fruit with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and a savoury mineral core. The finish is long, energetic and beautifully balanced, reflecting the elegance and transparency of the vintage.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a superb introduction to the Confuron-Cotetidot style. Compared to Gevrey-Chambertin from more modern producers, it is more structured, savoury and built for ageing. The 2021 vintage emphasises finesse over power, making it a wonderful choice for Burgundy lovers who appreciate purity, freshness and terroir expression. Drink from 2026 onwards or cellar comfortably for 10–15+ years. Perfect with duck, roast lamb, game birds and wild mushroom dishes.
