The 2021 Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino is a classic Tuscan Sangiovese drawn equally from the estate’s Canalicchio and Montosoli vineyards in northern Montalcino. The nose shows red cherry, plum and blackberry with violet, dried herbs, cinnamon and subtle earthy spice. The contrasting clay-rich and mineral-rich vineyard soils bring depth, freshness and savoury definition.
On the palate, it is structured and energetic, with vibrant acidity supporting ripe red and dark fruit, fine tannins and a distinct mineral edge. After 25 days on skins, the wine matures for 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, building complexity without masking the Sangiovese character. The finish is long, savoury and finely balanced.

At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Brunello drinkers who enjoy traditional Sangiovese with freshness, fine tannins and long-term cellaring potential. Drinking beautifully from 2026, it can continue developing through around 2042. Pair with roast lamb, bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild mushroom pasta, slow-cooked beef or mature pecorino.
