The 2021 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a powerful and refined red from Veneto, Italy, made from Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta. The nose is intense with ripe black cherry, plum and dark berries, layered with dried fruit, spice, cocoa and subtle tobacco notes.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated with refined tannins, balanced acidity and impressive depth. Selected grapes are naturally dried for around four months before fermentation, then matured for 18 months in new barriques, seven months in large oak and around 14 months in bottle, creating richness while maintaining the integrity of the fruit.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Amarone drinkers who enjoy concentrated dark fruit, warming spice and structured Italian reds with excellent ageing potential. Enjoy it now with decanting or cellar over the next 10–15 years as further savoury complexity develops. Ideal with slow-braised beef, roast lamb, venison, rich pasta dishes or mature hard cheeses.
