The 2020 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis is a benchmark traditional Barolo from one of Castiglione Falletto’s most revered family estates. Made from organically farmed Nebbiolo and aged for 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, it combines the power and structure of classic Barolo with remarkable elegance and purity. The 2020 vintage is slightly richer and more approachable than some recent releases, while still offering serious ageing potential.
The nose reveals black cherry, dried rose, licorice, truffle and tobacco, while the palate is layered and complex with raspberry, blackberry, orange peel, earthy spice and menthol notes. Firm, finely woven tannins and vibrant acidity give the wine impressive structure, balance and length.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb traditional Barolo with depth, character and outstanding cellaring potential. Perfect with braised beef, osso buco, truffle pasta, venison or aged hard cheeses. Decant if drinking young, or cellar confidently through 2045+ as it develops greater complexity and savoury nuance.
