The 2020 Billon VDP Viognier 'Les Corendies' is a beautifully expressive 100% Viognier from the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, crafted by Christophe Billon just outside Condrieu. Sourced from south to south-west-facing vineyards in Condrieu and Saint-Cyr-sur-le-Rhône, the wine is fermented 50% in French oak barrels and 50% in stainless steel, before maturing for 14 months to build texture while preserving freshness. The nose is fragrant and inviting, revealing ripe apricot, white peach and honeysuckle layered with citrus blossom and subtle spice.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a silky, rounded texture balanced by fresh acidity. Flavours of stone fruit, pear and citrus are complemented by gentle oak influence and a delicate mineral edge, leading to a long, elegant finish with excellent balance and finesse. Rich yet refined, this is a classic Northern Rhône Viognier that beautifully reflects the style and precision of the Billon estate.
