The 2019 Frédéric Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur is an expressive Pinot Noir from a gently sloping, clay-rich vineyard situated just below the celebrated Clos de Bèze. It offers aromas of ripe red cherry, raspberry and dark berries, accompanied by violet, liquorice, earthy notes and subtle spice.
On the palate, it is fleshy, supple and well balanced, with generous fruit, fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins. More open and approachable than many Gevrey-Chambertins, it nevertheless shows good depth and persistence, finishing with lingering floral, mineral and savoury notes.
