The wine comes from one of Bordeaux's finest unclassified estates, located on a prime gravel ridge overlooking the Gironde Estuary near Château Montrose. The 2019 vintage is regarded as one of Meyney's greatest modern releases, combining the structure and depth of Saint-Estèphe with remarkable refinement and aromatic precision. The blend is approximately 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 13% Petit Verdot, with the unusually high proportion of Petit Verdot contributing floral complexity, spice and impressive ageing potential.
The bouquet is expressive and beautifully layered, revealing aromas of cassis, blackberry and black cherry, intertwined with violet, graphite and cedar. As the wine opens, notes of tobacco leaf, liquorice, dark chocolate, pencil shavings and crushed gravel emerge, creating a classic Left Bank profile with both power and elegance. The 2019 vintage is particularly admired for its purity of fruit, floral lift and exceptional balance. Neal Martin awarded it 95 points, praising its "divine bouquet" and luxurious yet perfectly balanced palate.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with concentrated layers of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry supported by finely polished tannins and vibrant acidity.
