The 2018 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin Premier Cru En Remilly Magnum is a distinguished 100% Chardonnay from Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, presented in an impressive 1500ml bottle, equivalent to two standard bottles. Hubert Lamy established the domaine in 1973, with his son Olivier joining in 1995 and helping build its reputation for precise, expressive white Burgundy. En Remilly is among Saint-Aubin’s most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards, situated close to the Grand Cru slopes of Chassagne-Montrachet. Lamy’s expression comes from two parcels planted in 1989 and 1990, combining the vineyard’s floral character and saline freshness with substantial depth.
The 2018 offers pear, orange oil, lemon, mandarin and white flowers, complemented by toasted bread, nutmeg and a chalky mineral character. Despite the warmth of the growing season, the wine retains bright acidity and a concentrated, finely structured palate. William Kelley awarded it 94 Points in bottle, highlighting its tightly coiled fruit, incisive freshness and long saline finish. Neal Martin also awarded 94 Points, praising its harmony, cohesive structure and lingering citrus flavours. Decanter awarded 94 Points, emphasising its floral finesse, freshness and ageing potential. These assessments describe a serious Saint-Aubin with both the generosity of 2018 and the definition needed for further development.
