The 2018 A. Christmann IDIG Riesling Grosses Gewächs Magnum (1500ml) is an exceptional dry Riesling from Königsbach in Germany’s Pfalz region, produced from IDIG - A. Christmann’s flagship vineyard and one of Germany’s most celebrated sites for dry Riesling. The historic vineyard was documented as early as the 14th century, and Christmann today holds a near-monopoly of approximately 4 hectares in its finest section. IDIG sits on a massive bedrock of tertiary limestone, covered by terra fusca soils combining limestone and clay, with additional sandstone and basalt influences. Its south-southeast-facing slope and cooling airflow from the nearby Klausental help preserve acidity and vineyard freshness, producing Rieslings renowned for their concentration, restraint and profound mineral character.
