The 2008 Clarendon Hills Brookman Merlot is a mature McLaren Vale Merlot from the Brookman Vineyard in Clarendon, South Australia. Made in a structured style inspired by Pomerol, it shows concentrated blackberry, plum and dark cherry with clove, dark chocolate, pencil shavings and savoury earthy notes.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with dark fruit supported by fresh acidity and firm, chewy tannins. More than 15 years of bottle age has allowed its fruit and savoury characters to develop, while the finish remains long and structured.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for those who enjoy mature Australian Merlot with dark fruit, savoury complexity and firm structure. Best enjoyed now with careful decanting. Ideal with roast beef, lamb, slow-cooked meats, mushroom dishes or aged cheeses.
