Founded in 1869 in the picturesque village of Termeno (Tramin), the estate has been crafting terroir-driven wines for more than 150 years, combining traditional winemaking with modern precision.

Located in the heart of Alto Adige, Wilhelm Walch farms vineyards across some of the region's finest hillside sites. The vineyards benefit from high altitudes, abundant sunshine, cool Alpine nights, and a wide range of soils including limestone, porphyry, and glacial deposits. These conditions allow grapes to ripen slowly while retaining vibrant acidity, aromatic intensity, and exceptional freshness.

The estate is particularly renowned for its Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Nero. The white wines display aromas of citrus, green apple, pear, white flowers, peach, and delicate mineral notes, combining crisp acidity with refined texture and purity. Pinot Nero offers elegant flavours of cherry, raspberry, violet, and subtle spice, supported by silky tannins and vibrant structure.

Wilhelm Walch follows a philosophy centred on sustainable viticulture, careful vineyard management, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Hand harvesting, gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, and precise ageing preserve the individuality of each variety while highlighting the distinctive Alpine character of Alto Adige.

The winery is housed in a beautifully preserved 16th-century estate, where historic underground cellars continue to play an important role in the maturation of its wines.
