Stadt Krems is one of Austria’s oldest and most historic wineries, with a winemaking heritage dating back to 1452. Located in the heart of Krems an der Donau, the estate is a benchmark producer of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner, crafting wines that reflect the exceptional terroirs of the Kremstal wine region.
The winery farms vineyards across some of the most prestigious sites surrounding the historic city of Krems, including renowned single vineyards such as Kögl, Wachtberg, Grillenparz, and Gaisberg. These sites benefit from a unique combination of warm Pannonian influences and cool air currents from the Waldviertel, creating ideal conditions for producing wines with freshness, complexity, and balance.
Stadt Krems is particularly celebrated for Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. Grüner Veltliner wines typically display aromas of green apple, citrus, white pepper, herbs, and stone fruit, while Rieslings offer notes of lime, white peach, apricot, citrus blossom, and mineral freshness. The wines are known for their precision, elegance, and ability to express the diverse soils of Kremstal, including loess, primary rock, and gravel.
