Among red varieties, Mondeuse is considered the flagship grape of Savoie. It produces elegant wines with aromas of blackberry, cherry, violet, pepper, and spice, supported by vibrant acidity and fine tannins. Gamay and Pinot Noir are also grown throughout the region, contributing to Savoie’s diverse wine styles.

The region’s soils vary from limestone and marl to glacial deposits and scree slopes, creating a wide range of terroirs that contribute depth and individuality to the wines. Sustainable viticulture and traditional farming practices remain central to many of the region’s leading producers.
