Ribera del Duero DO

Ribera del Duero DO is one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions, located in the northern part of the country along the Duero River. Established as a Denominación de Origen (DO) in 1982, the region has gained international acclaim for producing high-quality red wines, primarily based on Tempranillo, locally known as Tinto Fino.

The region is defined by its continental climate, with hot, dry summers and long, cold winters, as well as significant day-night temperature variation. These conditions, combined with high-altitude vineyards ranging from 700 to over 900 meters above sea level, allow grapes to develop concentration, structure, and natural acidity.

Ribera del Duero’s soils vary from limestone and clay to sandy and alluvial compositions, contributing to wines with depth, complexity, and strong aging potential. The wines are typically full-bodied, with dark fruit flavors, firm tannins, and well-integrated oak from barrel aging.

As one of Spain’s leading appellations, Ribera del Duero DO is home to some of the country’s most iconic producers and offers premium wines that combine power, elegance, and long-term cellaring capability.
