The 2023 Domaine Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes is a beautifully refined Pinot Noir from one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards. Situated between Les Amoureuses and Bonnes-Mares, Les Charmes is renowned for producing wines of elegance, perfume and silky texture, often considered one of the finest Premier Cru sites in the appellation.
The nose is intensely aromatic and graceful, showing wild raspberry, red cherry and rose petal layered with tea leaf, spice and crushed limestone minerality. The 2023 vintage delivers excellent balance and freshness, with critics highlighting the wine’s purity, finesse and quiet intensity.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins and vibrant acidity supporting finely detailed red fruit and floral complexity. Delicate spice, mineral tension and subtle oak integration lead to a long, elegant and persistent finish. Compared to broader Côte de Nuits styles, Les Charmes is more perfumed and refined, embodying the classic "iron fist in a velvet glove" character associated with Chambolle-Musigny.
Ben’s Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is a perfect example of classic Chambolle-Musigny elegance - all about perfume, silkiness and finesse rather than power. Compared to Gevrey-Chambertin, it’s lighter, more floral and more graceful; compared to Vosne-Romanée, it’s slightly more delicate and mineral-driven. Faiveley’s modern style under Erwan Faiveley has become significantly more refined and terroir-transparent, making wines like this especially attractive for Burgundy collectors. The 2023 vintage combines charm with freshness, giving the wine early appeal while still offering excellent ageing potential. Drink from 2027 onwards or cellar for 12–18+ years. Perfect with duck, quail, mushroom dishes or refined French cuisine.
