The 2023 Domaine des Croix Saint-Romain Combe Bazin is a beautifully pure Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s most exciting modern producers, David Croix. Sourced from a high-altitude, limestone-rich site in Saint-Romain, the wine combines the generosity typical of Combe Bazin with the freshness and mineral tension that define this cool-climate appellation. Production remains tiny while the vineyard is being replanted, with only a handful of barrels produced in 2023.
The nose reveals lemon zest, white peach and green apple, while the palate is textured and vibrant with layers of citrus, orchard fruit and chalky minerality. A touch of creaminess adds depth, balanced by bright acidity and a long, saline finish.
