The 2022 Domaine Camille Thiriet Bourgogne Rouge Les Chagniots is a beautifully expressive Pinot Noir from a 60-year-old vineyard in Corgoloin, at the southern end of the Côte de Nuits. Produced by Camille Thiriet and Matt Chittick, one of Burgundy’s most exciting young domaines, this cuvée comes from deeper clay-limestone soils than En La Place, giving the wine greater concentration, structure and depth. It is widely regarded as the more powerful and age-worthy of the two Bourgogne Rouge bottlings.
The nose reveals black cherry, wild blackberry and spice, with hints of white pepper and earth. The palate is silky yet concentrated, showing layers of dark berry fruit, subtle savoury notes and fine-grained tannins. Richer and more structured than En La Place, it retains excellent freshness and balance, finishing long and refined.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A serious Bourgogne Rouge that drinks well above its classification. Richer and more powerful than many regional Burgundies, it pairs beautifully with duck, roast pork, lamb or mushroom dishes. Enjoy now with a decant or cellar for 5–8 years.
