The 2022 Domaine Camille Thiriet Bourgogne Rouge En La Place is a beautifully crafted Bourgogne Pinot Noir from 90-year-old vines between Comblanchien and Corgoloin in the Côte de Nuits. Made by Camille Thiriet and Matt Chittick, two of Burgundy’s most exciting young winemakers, the wine is fermented with partial whole bunches and minimal intervention, delivering remarkable finesse and character well above its appellation level.
The nose reveals ripe cherry, raspberry and rose petal with subtle spice and floral notes. The palate is silky and vibrant, showing layers of red berries, gentle earthiness and fine mineral freshness. Velvety tannins and bright acidity create a wine that is both elegant and highly drinkable, with impressive depth for a regional Burgundy.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb small-production Burgundy that punches well above its weight. Fresh, fragrant and beautifully balanced, it pairs perfectly with roast chicken, duck, charcuterie or mushroom dishes. Enjoy now or cellar for 5–8 years.
