The 2021 Domaine Bruno Clair Marsannay Blanc is a finely balanced white Burgundy that captures the elegance and freshness of the cooler 2021 vintage. The nose opens with lifted aromas of white flowers, acacia, citrus peel and crisp orchard fruits, layered with hints of fresh butter, almond cream and a delicate touch of spring honey. Subtle oak influence adds gentle spice and texture without overwhelming the wine’s mineral purity.
On the palate, the wine is supple yet energetic, combining ripe white peach, green apple and lemon curd with vibrant acidity and a chalky, limestone-driven tension typical of Marsannay’s clay-limestone soils. The texture is creamy and rounded from extended élevage, but the finish remains focused, saline and refreshingly precise. A small proportion of Pinot Blanc in the blend contributes additional roundness and softness to the mid-palate.
Compared with richer Côte de Beaune whites, Bruno Clair’s Marsannay Blanc leans toward finesse and mineral clarity rather than opulence, making it highly versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with roast chicken, river fish, scallops, creamy seafood dishes or poultry in mushroom sauce. While approachable now with decanting, the wine should continue to gain complexity over the next 5–8 years.
