The 2026 Quealy Feri Maris Pinot Grigio is a distinctive single-vineyard Mornington Peninsula white from Quealy’s certified organic Balnarring home vineyard, planted in 1982. The long, cool 2026 season produced concentrated fruit with excellent freshness. The wine shows fine pear, white peach and wild honey alongside rockpool, oyster-shell and subtle flinty mineral notes, reflecting the vineyard’s cool maritime influence. Whole-bunch pressing and partial fermentation in French oak add further texture and complexity.
On the palate, it is generous yet finely focused, with vibrant acidity supporting layers of ripe pear, orchard fruit and delicate citrus. Wild honey and subtle floral notes add richness, while oyster-shell, saline and stony mineral characters provide tension and length. The wine was naturally fermented, with 70% in stainless steel and 30% in French hogsheads, then left on lees without bâtonnage, helping build a creamy texture while preserving the freshness of the fruit. A delicate natural effervescence adds an extra lift to the finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Pinot Grigio drinkers who enjoy a more expressive and textural style rather than a simple, lightweight white. Its combination of ripe pear, wild honey, saline minerality and bright acidity makes it particularly versatile at the table. Best enjoyed over the next 4–7 years, although its freshness and concentration should allow further development. Serve chilled with oysters, seared scallops, grilled prawns with lemon, kingfish crudo, roast chicken with herbs, or mushroom and leek risotto.
