POMEROL

Pomerol is one of the most prestigious wine appellations in Bordeaux, France, renowned for producing some of the world’s most luxurious and sought-after Merlot-based red wines. Located on the Right Bank of Bordeaux near Saint-Émilion, Pomerol is a small but highly influential wine region known for its rich, elegant and age-worthy wines.

Unlike many Bordeaux appellations, Pomerol has no official classification system, yet it is home to some of the most famous wines in the world, including legendary estates such as Château Pétrus, Le Pin and Château Lafleur.

The region’s unique terroir is defined by clay and gravel soils, with the famous blue clay (crasse de fer) playing a key role in producing deeply concentrated wines. Merlot dominates the blends, often supported by smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, resulting in wines that are plush, complex and remarkably refined.

Pomerol wines are typically full-bodied and velvety, showing flavours of plum, black cherry, truffle, chocolate and spice, with silky tannins and exceptional ageing potential.
