PIERRE LABET

Domaine Pierre Labet is a historic and well-regarded family estate in Burgundy, closely tied to the famous Château de la Tour in Clos de Vougeot. The domaine traces its roots back to the 15th century and today is run by François Labet, who also manages Château de la Tour.

Based in Beaune, the domaine has holdings across both the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, including parcels in prestigious villages such as Meursault, Beaune, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Vougeot.

François Labet has been a pioneer in organic and sustainable practices in Burgundy. Since the early 1990s, the domaine has been farmed organically, with careful vineyard management, low yields, and respect for terroir. The wines are crafted with minimal intervention, using indigenous yeasts and careful oak aging. The reds are typically elegant and terroir-driven, emphasizing finesse over power, while the whites show purity, tension, and precision.

Often considered a bit of an “insider’s secret,” the domaine offers excellent value compared to top-tier Burgundy estates, particularly given its deep experience and connection to Château de la Tour. The wines age gracefully but are also approachable in youth, showing François Labet’s signature touch of clarity, balance, and authenticity.
