The 2024 Gilbert Pinot Noir is a cool-climate red from the Gordon Hills Vineyard in Orange, NSW, grown at around 970–1,015 metres on volcanic basalt-derived soils. The nose shows bright cherry, red berries and plum with violet, subtle spice, earthy notes and a touch of dried orange rind.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fresh acidity, fine tannins and juicy cherry and red berry fruit. The wine undergoes whole-berry fermentation with 26 days on skins before maturation in French oak, only 15% new, adding gentle cedar and spice without masking the fruit. The finish is fresh, savoury and finely structured.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Pinot Noir drinkers who enjoy bright, cool-climate Australian reds with fine tannins and savoury complexity. Enjoy now or over the next 3–5 years and pair with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom dishes, pork or roast chicken.
