MARK HAISMA

Mark Haisma is an Australian-born winemaker who has become one of the most respected and dynamic micro-négociants in Burgundy. After a successful career making wine in Australia with Yarra Yering, one of the Yarra Valley’s most iconic estates, he moved to France in the mid-2000s to pursue his long-held dream of crafting wines in Burgundy.

Working out of a small cellar in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, between Gevrey-Chambertin and Vougeot, Mark Haisma has built a reputation for producing wines that are pure, expressive, and unpretentious. He sources grapes from trusted growers across some of Burgundy’s best appellations — from Bourgogne Rouge and Côte de Nuits-Villages to Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, and Corton — always focusing on quality fruit and sustainable vineyard practices.

Mark’s winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention and authenticity. He avoids heavy extraction, keeps oak use moderate, and allows the wines to express the nuances of each vineyard. His approach is rooted in respect for terroir, balancing structure and finesse while maintaining freshness and vibrancy.
