KAMPTAL

Kamptal is one of Austria’s most important and respected wine regions, located northwest of Vienna. Named after the Kamp River, the region is known for producing high-quality white wines with clarity, structure, and strong terroir expression.

Kamptal benefits from a unique climate influenced by warm Pannonian air from the east and cooler winds from the Waldviertel in the north. This combination creates significant temperature variation, allowing grapes to ripen fully while retaining vibrant acidity and aromatic complexity. The region’s diverse soils, including loess, gravel, and primary rock, further contribute to the character and diversity of its wines.

Kamptal is best known for Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. Grüner Veltliner from Kamptal is typically fresh and expressive, with notes of green apple, citrus, and white pepper, while Riesling offers precision, minerality, and flavors of stone fruit and citrus. The region produces wines in a range of styles, from light and approachable to more structured and age-worthy expressions, including DAC classifications.

As a leading Austrian wine region, Kamptal offers elegant, terroir-driven wines that combine freshness, balance, and complexity, appealing to both enthusiasts and everyday wine drinkers.
