Maison Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most iconic and respected wine producers, with a history dating back to 1880. Founded by Joseph Drouhin in Beaune, the family-owned estate has grown into one of the largest and most prestigious domaines in Burgundy while remaining under the stewardship of the Drouhin family. Today, Joseph Drouhin is internationally recognised for producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that faithfully express the diverse vineyards of Burgundy, from Chablis to the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, Mâconnais, and Beaujolais.
The estate owns more than 90 hectares of vineyards, including an exceptional collection of Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites. Many vineyards are farmed organically or biodynamically, with the family pioneering sustainable viticulture in Burgundy decades before it became widely adopted. The limestone and clay soils, cool continental climate, and meticulous vineyard management allow every parcel to reveal its unique identity, producing wines celebrated for their finesse, balance, and longevity.
Joseph Drouhin is renowned for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, offering one of the most comprehensive portfolios in Burgundy. The range includes celebrated appellations such as Chablis, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Beaune, Volnay, Pommard, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Clos de Vougeot, and Musigny. The white wines display citrus, white peach, hazelnut, floral notes, and refined minerality, while the reds offer layers of cherry, raspberry, violets, spice, and silky tannins, reflecting the elegance that has become synonymous with the Drouhin style.
Winemaking is centred on respecting the individuality of each vineyard. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermentation is carefully managed using indigenous and selected yeasts where appropriate, and oak maturation is tailored to each appellation and vintage. New oak is used with restraint to preserve fruit purity, while long ageing enhances complexity without compromising balance. Every decision is guided by the belief that great Burgundy should transparently express its terroir.
Beyond Burgundy, the Drouhin family expanded into Oregon with Domaine Drouhin Oregon, helping establish the Willamette Valley as one of the world's premier Pinot Noir regions.
