Hirsch Vineyards is one of California's most iconic wine estates, producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from one of the most remote and celebrated vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. Founded by David Hirsch in 1980, the estate has become a benchmark for cool-climate viticulture, with its rugged coastal vineyard supplying fruit to legendary producers before establishing its own acclaimed label. Located just a few kilometres from the Pacific Ocean in the Fort Ross–Seaview AVA, the estate spans over 445 hectares, with around 29 hectares planted to vines. The vineyard sits high above the coastal fog on steep ridges overlooking the ocean, where ancient uplifted marine soils, strong maritime winds, and one of California's longest growing seasons create ideal conditions for slow ripening. The estate is divided into more than 60 individual farming blocks, each vinified separately to capture its unique expression of site.
Hirsch Vineyards is renowned for its estate Pinot Noir and estate Chardonnay, alongside a collection of highly sought-after single-block and limited-production wines. Pinot Noir offers exceptional complexity with aromas of wild cherry, raspberry, rose petals, black tea, forest floor, and savoury spice, supported by vibrant acidity and refined tannins. Chardonnay displays layers of citrus, white peach, flint, sea spray, and subtle oak, delivering remarkable precision, texture, and mineral depth. The estate follows a philosophy centred on regenerative farming, biodiversity, and minimal-intervention winemaking. The vineyards are farmed organically using regenerative practices that promote healthy soils and resilient ecosystems. Fruit is harvested by hand, fermented with native yeasts, and matured with restrained use of French oak, allowing each vineyard block to transparently express its origin. Every bottle reflects Hirsch's commitment to authenticity rather than stylistic consistency.
