GABRIEL GLASSES

Gabriel-Glas is an Austrian-designed glassware brand created in 2010 by Swiss-German wine critic René Gabriel in collaboration with glassmaker Siegfried Seidl. The concept was to produce a universal wine glass—one shape that could enhance any style of wine, whether red, white, rosé, sparkling, or dessert. Made from lead-free crystal using low-iron sand for clarity, Gabriel-Glas is crafted in a seamless one-piece design where the bowl, stem, and foot are formed together, giving the glasses both elegance and durability. The bowl has a slightly conical profile that focuses aromas, a design often described as “bouquet-driven,” allowing wines to express more character. All models are dishwasher-safe and designed for comfort in the hand.

The range features two main versions: StandArt and Gold Edition. The StandArt is a robust, machine-blown glass weighing about 145 g, offering an excellent balance of elegance and everyday durability. In contrast, the Gold Edition is hand-blown by master craftsmen, weighing only around 90 g, giving it a near-weightless feel while maintaining strength. Both share the same universal bowl shape, but the Gold Edition’s artisanal finesse and feather-light construction make it a luxury choice, while the StandArt is better suited for regular, high-use environments.

Gabriel-Glas has earned widespread praise from sommeliers, wine critics, and publications such as People, Food & Wine, and The Spruce Eats, which highlight its versatility, comfort, and aroma-enhancing design. Sommelier Amanda McCrossin has even noted that the glass can make modest wines taste better. Whether for professional tasting, fine dining, or everyday enjoyment, Gabriel-Glas offers a refined balance of functionality, craftsmanship, and sensory performance, appealing equally to wine professionals and enthusiasts.
