The 2021 Domaine René Rostaing Côte-Rôtie La Landonne is a powerful and structured Northern Rhône Syrah from one of the appellation’s most iconic single vineyards. Sourced from iron-rich schist soils on the Côte Brune, this 100% Syrah reflects both the intensity of the terroir and the precision of Rostaing’s winemaking. The nose is deep and complex, showing blackberry, mulberry and dark cherry, layered with notes of violet, black olive, pepper, leather and subtle smoky, mineral nuances.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with firm, building tannins and excellent concentration. Dark fruit, spice and savoury elements are supported by fresh acidity, leading to a long, structured and persistent finish. The style is classic La Landonne - dense, mineral and age-worthy, with a slightly austere edge in youth.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a benchmark Côte-Rôtie for collectors and serious Rhône enthusiasts. It’s more structured and powerful than most, requiring patience to fully express its complexity. Best from 2026 onwards or cellar for 15–25+ years. Perfect with lamb, beef, game or rich, slow-cooked dishes.
