The 2019 Domaine François Chidaine Vin de France Pétillant is a beautifully refined and mineral-driven sparkling Chenin Blanc from one of the Loire Valley’s benchmark biodynamic producers. Crafted from estate-grown fruit sourced primarily from chalk-rich sites in Vouvray and Montlouis-sur-Loire, the wine is made in a traditional pétillant style with indigenous yeast fermentation in 600-litre demi-muids and extended lees ageing before disgorgement without dosage.
On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with fine, gentle bubbles, vibrant natural acidity and a tightly focused mineral core. Layers of Bosc pear, ripe apple skin, preserved lemon and citrus blossom are balanced by saline freshness and chalky tension, finishing dry, energetic and beautifully persistent with excellent precision and texture. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle with no added sugar and spends extended time on lees, contributing subtle creaminess while preserving the crystalline freshness and savoury character that define Chidaine’s wines.
