DOMAINE FONT DE COURTEDUNE

Domaine Font de Courtedune is a family-run estate rooted in the heart of the southern Rhône Valley, just outside Courthézon, on the doorstep of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The domaine is managed by Caroline and Frédéric Charrier, who have carried forward the traditions of their family’s vineyards with a dedication to authenticity, balance, and respect for the land.

The estate covers around 25 hectares, spread across Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône, and Vin de Pays appellations. The vines thrive in the Rhône’s classic terroir of rolled pebbles (galets roulés), clay, and sandy soils, shaped by the region’s warm Mediterranean climate and the ever-present Mistral wind. Many of the domaine’s vines are old, with parcels of Grenache Noir over 80 years old, giving depth and concentration to the wines.

Font de Courtedune is best known for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape, crafted predominantly from Grenache, with Syrah and Mourvèdre lending structure and spice. These wines are powerful yet refined, marked by ripe red fruit, garrigue herbs, and a distinctive Rhône warmth. Their Côtes-du-Rhône bottlings, meanwhile, offer excellent value, showing juicy fruit and approachable elegance while maintaining a true sense of place.

Working with minimal intervention in the cellar, Caroline and Frédéric emphasize purity of fruit and terroir expression over heavy oak or excessive extraction. This approach has earned the domaine increasing recognition among Rhône enthusiasts who appreciate wines that balance generosity with freshness and finesse
