DOMAINE CHANSON

Domaine Chanson Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s most historic and respected wine estates, with roots stretching back to 1750 in Beaune, France — making it one of the region’s oldest producers still active today.

Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune and extending into the Côte Chalonnaise, Domaine Chanson’s vineyards now cover around 88 hectares, with a particularly strong presence in Premier Cru sites across Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Santenay, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses.  The estate’s holdings represent a mosaic of classic Burgundian terroirs planted mainly to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, while smaller plantings of Aligoté offer fresh, lively white expressions.

Chanson blends deep respect for tradition with modern quality-focused winemaking. The estate was acquired in 1999 by the Bollinger Champagne Group, which has helped revitalize its vineyards and facilities while preserving Chanson’s heritage.  Many vineyard parcels are farmed organically or moving towards certification, reflecting the domaine’s commitment to sustainability and terroir expression.

The wines themselves — from regional Burgundy appellations to village and Premier Cru bottlings — are known for clarity, balance and refined fruit, with the reds showing nuanced Pinot Noir character and the whites offering elegance and minerality.  The historic Bastion de l’Oratoire, a fortified tower in Beaune with thick stone walls, serves as a remarkable ageing cellar where many Chanson wines mature under constant temperature and humidity.

In short, Domaine Chanson stands as a timeless pillar of Burgundy wine, combining centuries-old heritage, prime vineyard holdings and a steadfast focus on quality that make its wines sought after on the global stage.
