CORREGGIA
Matteo Correggia is a highly regarded family-run winery located in the Roero region of Piedmont, Italy, in the town of Canale d’Alba. Founded in 1985 by Matteo Correggia when he was just 23 years old, the estate transformed from a small family farm into one of the most respected names in Roero. Matteo was among the first to demonstrate that the sandy hills of Roero could produce Nebbiolo wines of depth and character to rival those of Barolo and Barbaresco. After his passing in 2001, his wife Ornella and their son Giovanni continued his legacy, maintaining the same commitment to quality, authenticity, and respect for the land.
Winemaking at Matteo Correggia reflects a balance between modern precision and traditional restraint. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermented with minimal intervention, and aged in a mix of stainless steel and large neutral oak to preserve varietal expression and finesse. The estate’s philosophy centres on sustainability and transparency, aiming to let the vineyards speak clearly through each cuvée. As a result, the wines show purity, energy, and a strong sense of place—offering both immediate drinkability and ageing potential, particularly for the Nebbiolo-based wines.
Matteo Correggia stands as a symbol of Roero’s modern renaissance. The estate’s dedication to organic farming, elegant craftsmanship, and terroir expression has earned it an international reputation among sommeliers and collectors.
