Based near Orange in the southern Rhône Valley, the estate sources fruit from exceptional old-vine vineyards across Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône, and neighbouring appellations. Many vineyard parcels feature the region's famous galets roulés (rounded stones), alongside limestone, clay, and sandy soils, which help regulate vine temperatures and contribute concentration, freshness, and remarkable complexity.

Clos Saouma is best known for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge and Blanc. The red wines are primarily based on Grenache, supported by traditional Rhône varieties including Mourvèdre, Syrah, Counoise, and Vaccarèse. They display aromas of blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, lavender, garrigue, liquorice, pepper, and exotic spice, with silky tannins, vibrant freshness, and exceptional ageing potential. The rare white wines, produced from varieties such as Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, and Bourboulenc, offer remarkable depth with citrus, white peach, honeysuckle, almond, and mineral complexity.

The Saoumas follow an uncompromising philosophy of minimal intervention and terroir expression. Vineyards are farmed sustainably with meticulous attention to vine health and fruit quality. In the cellar, indigenous yeast fermentation, extended lees ageing, minimal sulphur additions, and careful maturation in large oak barrels create wines of extraordinary texture, purity, and balance without masking their vineyard origins.
