The 2025 MMAD Vineyard Chenin Blanc is an old-vine Chenin Blanc from Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale, where the oldest Chenin vines date to 1964. Grown on fine Maslin sands over ironstone and exposed to cooling south-westerly sea breezes, it shows apple, pear and ripe stone fruit with citrus, subtle florals, cedar and a lightly smoky mineral character.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet energetic, with juicy orchard fruit, bright acidity and a beautifully satiny texture. A saline, pebbly mineral edge and gentle phenolic grip provide structure, while integrated woodsmoke and cedar add savoury complexity. The finish is dry, long and finely detailed, suggesting excellent potential to become even more complex with bottle age.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Chenin Blanc drinkers who enjoy textured Australian whites with old-vine concentration, saline freshness and serious structure. The 2025 received 95 points from Campbell Mattinson, continuing MMAD’s impressive run with this vineyard. Enjoy now or cellar for further development. Pair with grilled snapper, scallops, roast chicken, pork, seafood dishes or aged cheeses.
